A Game Changing Hair Ingredient Found Right in Your Pantry

After recently using the new Rizos Curls Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) rinse I was intrigued to learn more of the hair and scalp benefits of ACV. I am familiar with the benefits ACV can have on our gut health, but I’ve never known the benefits it can have on our hair. So… I did a little research and here is what I found.

Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar

ACV rinses can provide great benefits to the scalp, which you all know I love any ingredient or product that will improve scalp health given my previous Alopecia diagnosis. Say scalp health and I’m all ears :)! Plus, we all know that our scalp is the foundation for healthy hair.

ACV has healing properties that fight against bacteria or fungus that may have developed on the scalp, aiding in keeping your scalps pH Levels balanced. I’ve also found that shampoos and conditioners can disturb your scalp’s pH balance, which leads to frizz. ACV aids in rebalancing our pH levels which leads to stronger and shinier hair.

ACV also helps in removing buildup on the scalp caused by dandruff because of its acidic nature allowing for a healthy pathway for your hair follicles and hair strands. This helps reduce hair loss and removes buildup from the hair and scalp, allowing your products to perform better, making them more effective.

Using Apple Cider Vinegar

ACV has to be diluted with water in order for it to be effective. If you chose to try an ACV rinse always watch how your scalp and hair responds so you can adjust the ACV and water ratio accordingly. Due to ACV’s acidic nature, if you have a sensitive scalp or one that can easily be irritated, an ACV rinse may not be ideal for you. If you do however decide you want to give it a try, make sure to use a very small amount of ACV and diluted with water very well.

If your not into DYI’s, don’t like the smell of ACV, or just don’t feel like trying to figure out the proper water and ACV mixer, try using products that contain ACV.

Products Containing Apple Cider Vinegar

I’ve seen raving reviews for R+Co Lost Treasure Apple Cider Vinegar Cleansing Rinse. It’s a pre-mixed hair rinse that claims to act as a natural exfoliant. It also contains ingredients that soothe and moisturize the scalp all while strengthening the hair and adding a healthy shine. The key ingredients include Apple Fruit Extract, Aloe Vera Leaf Juice and Tamanu Seed Oil.

When I asked some of my Curlfriends what their favorite ACV products were, many said the Miribel Naturals Creamy Hair Cleanser. It’s a lather free ACV Co-Wash that cleans, moisturizes, and exfoliates the scalp and hair without drying it out. This Hair Cleanser contains ingredients that are anti-inflammatory and anti-itch, such as turmeric and peppermint oil. This ACV Cleanser also contains tea tree oil which gently cleanses the hair and scalp. I personally have not tried this product, but I’m dying to give it a try!

A ACV combo I have tried and absolutely love is the AGCare Balance ACV Sulfate-Free Shampoo and Boost ACV Conditioner. These products are Vegan and super moisturizing, leaving your hair feeling clean and hydrated. These products are a MUST in my collection. I tend to reach for them often and I just love the added benefits the ACV brings to these products. The ACV shampoo gently cleanses the hair and seals the hair cuticle with argan oil and many other nourishing superfoods. The ACV Conditioner smooths the hair cuticles and also aids in sealing it with ingredients such as mango seed butter.

As mentioned earlier, I recently tried the new Rizos Curls Apple Cider Vinegar Scalp & Hair Rinse and really enjoyed it. This product uses organic ACV, black tea kombucha, lemon oil, aloe vera, and niacinamide. This product removes buildup, balances pH levels, reduces excess oil production and enhances shine. I personally love that it includes Black Tea Kombucha which is known to stimulate stronger & thicker hair.

Conclusion

ACV has so many amazing benefits to the hair and scalp! I cannot wait to incorporate it more into my hair routine. I am here for it balancing my scalps pH levels and its anti-bacterial and fungus benefits.

Are you giving ACV a try?
